DIRECTOR OF THEATRE ARTS

JACLYN STICKEL

Jaclyn Stickel is the Director of Theatre Arts at Fullerton Union High School. This is Ms. Stickel’s second year of teaching at Fullerton Union. She holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Musical Theatre (2016) from the University of Arizona, School of Theatre, Film & Television, where she was formally trained in Shakespeare, Chekhov, Commedia dell'Arte, Molière, Restoration Comedy, and Contemporary Acting. Since graduating, she has taught students all across Southern California and directed multiple full-scale plays and musicals. Ms. Stickel is also a certified actor-combatant with the Society of American Fight Directors. Prior to taking on the position of Director of Theatre Arts, she spent a year student teaching on the Fullerton campus under the guidance of the former Theatre Arts director, Michael Despars. During this time, Ms. Stickel fell in love with the vibrant Fullerton cummunity and she has been greatly enjoying collaborating with students to create exceptional theatre experiences and guiding them in discovering and cultivating their passion for the Arts!

Evan Shirk has been part of the Fullerton theatre community since the 4th grade, beginning his journey on stage at FUHS before transitioning into technical theatre after graduation. Since joining the production side full-time in 1993 at the Fullerton Auditorium, Evan has built a career spanning more than three decades. Over the past 32 years, he has supported approximately 200 events annually totaling well over 6,000 events, and has worked on more than 250 major stage productions. Throughout that time, he has served in nearly every technical capacity imaginable: Audio Engineer, Followspot Operator, Head Rigger, Set Designer, Technical Director, Lighting Designer, and long-time Auditorium Manager. Evan has supported hundreds of productions at FUHS, LHHS, FCLO, and 3D Theatricals, including large-scale musicals such as Les Miserables, Miss Saigon, Cats, Phantom, Evita, Into the Woods, Fiddler on the Roof, and West Side Story, among many others. In addition to managing professional productions, he has served as Technical Director and Set Designer for dozens of high school productions, mentoring students and helping bring ambitious creative visions to life. With more than 30 years, thousands of events, and hundreds of productions behind him, Evan remains dedicated to creating safe, professional, and inspiring theatrical experiences both on and off stage. He is proud to continue supporting the next generation of performers and technicians while contributing to the rich tradition of live theatre in the Fullerton community.
